There’s been a bit of a radio silence on my part. Just got back from a fantastic camping trip in Norway. In the mountains I got a lot of blog post ideas, which will end up here sooner or later.
A couple of the future posts will deal with a topic the modern man has castrated – namely weather. I have for a long time had a theory that the colonial empires were built because of bad weather in Europe. If you’re eating turnips in rainy London, of course you want to build shelter and boats to get out of there. If you’re in tropical heat, laying in a hammock eating wonderful fruits, why would you ever desire to be elsewhere? My friends who have studied political science have totally bashed this theory… I think there’s a glimpse of something there anyways.
The weather is fair today, so I’ll just go out and enjoy it while it lasts. More typing later when it rains.
